FG foreground processes — attached to your terminal, they stop when you disconnect. BG background processes — detached under screen, tmux or nohup, so a bot or bouncer stays up 24/7. Bots eggdrops and BNCs combined. Website served at /home/~you. Backups retention of nightly snapshots.

About the limits
Resource limits exist so one account cannot degrade the box for everyone else. They are enforced by the system, not by hand: if you approach a ceiling you get a warning before anything is stopped, and your current usage is on your dashboard and in the MOTD at every login.
There is currently no charge for ShadowShells accounts. We are invite-only and not billed on a commercial basis at present.
If you would like to help with the server bill anyway, there is a donation page. It is entirely optional and changes nothing about your account.
